About St George Art Society

The St George Art Society was inaugurated in 1944 ‘for the encouragement of art in the St George district’, to develop the practice of art and art appreciation.

The St George Art Society maintains the ideals of its founders – for the encouragement of art.   We are a non-profit organisation managed by volunteers who actively organise regular workshops, demonstrations, art classes for school children and art shows for members to exhibit and sell their artwork.

Our group is a friendly one, never intimidating.  Members can work in a variety of mediums and styles, with their artistic experience varying from beginners to professional artists.

We also welcome new members and visitors.

Our Online Art Show

The St George Art Society traditionally holds its Annual Art Show early in November at the Kogarah School of Arts.  This of course has not been possible in 2020 due to the COVID-19 restrictions and so an Online Art Exhibition has been organised to allow members to exhibit the many artworks created during this time.

The exhibition is in a different format this year which shows six categories, making it easy for viewers to find the subjects of artworks they are looking for.  Our traditional awards do not apply this year, but there will however be a ‘People’s Choice Award’ and a limited number of special awards for outstanding artworks.
